Qualifications
-
I am a fully qualified Primary Teacher, having completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Primary Education (PGDE), with over 18 years of teaching experience across the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence, the English National Curriculum and the Cambridge International Curriculum.
I have also worked as an Additional Support Teacher, providing personalised support for children with a wide range of learning needs.
-
I hold the internationally recognised Cambridge CELTA qualification, which equips me with specialist expertise in teaching English language learners.
This training has strengthened my understanding of language acquisition, pronunciation, grammar and communication, benefiting both adult learners and children who are developing confidence in English.
-
I am trained through the Mindfulness in Schools Project (MiSP), equipping me with practical strategies to help children develop emotional awareness, resilience, focus and self-regulation.
These approaches support pupils in building confidence and creating positive learning habits that extend beyond the classroom.
-
I completed specialist training with Dyslexia Action in study skills and supporting learners with additional learning needs. This training has deepened my understanding of how children and young people learn, equipping me with practical strategies to develop organisation, memory, independent learning, confidence and effective study habits.
Many of these evidence-informed approaches can be adapted to suit learners of different ages, helping pupils become more confident, independent and successful in their learning.
